Safety Guidelines

Here are the four weapons rules that, if you adhere to them without fail, will prevent any unintended discharge of the weapon.

  1. Treat EVERY weapon as if it were loaded.
  2. Never point a weapon at ANYTHING you do not intend to shoot.
  3. Keep the weapon on safe until you INTEND to fire.
  4. Keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you ATTEMPT to fire.

In general, you should also be aware of your target, and what lies beyond. This is good practice in cases of over penetration, or if someone, who’s not as amazing a shot as yourself, might miss and strike that poor infant behind the target.

In regards to eye protection, it should always be worn. Eyes are delicate AND expensive to repair. However, even if you are struck in the eye, I doubt it would kill anyone.

Airsoft guns fire their BB’s at a variety of speeds. Depending on the gun, BB, distance, and where it strikes, you may not feel it, or it may slightly break the skin. Dealing with the pain is part of the game.

Don’t be afraid to interrupt a game or scenario if you witness something unsafe, such as a bystander walking by, or a player has removed their goggles. “Better safe than sorry” is the defacto rule. If you are unsure, consider the defacto rule, and then make the call.

These guns are replicas. By definition, they look like real guns. When you are playing a game, no matter how remote, it’s wise to call the police before hand to inform them of what you are doing. This is not just in case the police see you, but in case someone else calls the police to tell them “some kids have guns and look like they are going to shoot something up”. Now the police know you they don’t have to call the SWAT team on you.

If the police DO show up at your game, call it out and stop playing immediately. For safety’s sake, put all weapons on the ground, and disarm as much as possible so the police can feel at ease. You don’t want someone with a real gun feeling all jumpy. No one would blame them if they shot you, given the circumstances. Don’t give them a reason. Don’t argue. Do anything they tell you to immediately, no matter how ridiculous or inane.

If you appear to be committing a crime, and have an airsoft gun, you ARE committing a crime. They must be transported just as a real firearm would, so stow them in containers. If you conceal and carry an airsoft gun, it is as illegal as if you were carrying a real one.
